And lo the blackberries did come forth....

I went picking blackberries with my husband yesterday and then made a pie. Yes, the pie is completely gone.

As I was searching for the ripe berries that are generally plentiful here this time of year, I was struck by how many berries were still bright green. These bright green berries were often on the same bunch as were a few ripe juicy berries. Both were in the same spot, both had probably the same amount of sunshine and water yet some ripened to perfection and others remained green.

I was reminded of how some children, all born to the same parents and recieving the same upbringing and teachings of values and morals, all grow up differently. Some become mature in the gospel of Jesus Christ....others remain hardend and their growth is stunted to the point that they never reach their full potential.

Despite having the same influences in their lives----

Interesting comparison and food for thought. Free agency, given to all of God's children, is a gift that used wisely will bring us back into our Heavenly Father's presence. Used unwisely and talents squandered, leads to hardened hearts, stunted spirituality and heartache.

Teaching

Have you ever noticed that you learn more when you teach something to others?

I was asked to teach the lesson in church today---in Relief Society. It was a wonderful experience and I learned a great deal as I prepared my lesson. It was about promoting the cause of Zion. How we need to become a pure people, to serve others, to seek out peace and love and righteousness.

It was a humbling experience to teach this lesson and it was especially wonderful that I was asked to do so.

I love being back in my old ward and being able to renew old friendships.

I'm grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life and the direction it gives to me. The comfort I get from reading the scriptures and feasting on the words of Christ. It fills my soul and gives me hope.
